Club Newsletter - December 2000

Greetings to all our Club Members

This newsletter is long overdue and I am very sorry about that. There has just hasn't been much news to pass onto you as our home club members have been travelling a lot and haven't kept up with the club activities. Shame.

The biggest and best news is that we had club members shooting at the Olympics. That was just fantastic and whats more they shot very well and won medals! CONGRATULATIONS.

Perhaps the rest of us can keep on trying to put in extra good air pistol scores and have a bigger turn out in Greece!! In the mean time there are other big competitions coming up the local members could try and qualify for, Commonwealth Shooting Games, Oceania Champs, the Commonwealth Games and of course several World Cups.

Did everyone see the pictures of Scruffy at the Olympic's? Bert was very jealous and I'm not sure if he is talking to Scruffy yet.

Our club is hoping to hold a Graded competition in March, probably the weekend of the 24/25th. It is open to all members first and I believe 60 Australians are talking about hiring a jet to fly over for it. We will try and cope for them all, but we might need some advice on the catering side of it, from the outback of Australia.

The club President seems to be working 7 days a week to keep his family fed and clothed so we haven't seen much of him at the range lately, or at the computer writing the newsletters. That why all the rambling.

The members from the Christchurch club are all very keen and loyal and put scores in once a month, having the club shoot as a match of the month at their home range. It is great to see shooters earning the Ultimate prize of a Chocolate Fish. Have you won one yet? Each month a New Zealand and a Overseas member win a chocolate fish if we think they deserve one. - Have you sent in your scores yet to be in the draw?

The New Zealand National are being held the first weekend of March 2001 in Christchurch, so it is a good chance for all of our members to get together for a good competition and a good time.

At one of our previous Nationals we had all 8 finalists in the Ladies Air Pistol final members from the Ranfurly/Naseby club. Lets see if we can do this again. Or if you can't make the New Zealand Nationals, how about the Australian Nationals being held in Brisbane over Easter 2001.

Bert, our Basset mascot, is resting again after lots of travelling around the country guarding his truck or camper and going to the occasional competitions. He has more fun when Scruffy is there to annoy him and I believe Scruffy and his dad are back in New Zealand for work for a little while. Maybe we will be able to get to see them both, especially if he can get down this way. Enough ramblings.

HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR, and send some scores in next year. Best wishes from the Ranfurly/Naseby Pistol Club.
