Adrian Berthelsen has won the 1999 Australian National Champs in Air Pistol by the narrowest of margins, having to shoot-off for first place - scores were tied after the Final. Well done!
After another eventful year for our club we are heading into our dormant time of the year, as the weather does not permit joyful shooting situations. But we still have some time before this happens, with Fire Brigade and Smallbore events coming up, full afternoons of entertainment will be had.
In the past year we saw our first Black Powder shoot held at our range, with a limited number of shooters coming. This was a good two day event, with our own members shooting well. Let's hope this will be an annual event. Also, Sports Pistol the 1st Sunday of the month competition held with Christchurch and Timaru is keeping our fax machine busy. Air pistol still comes and goes on Wednesday night at the Jack and Jill event centre.
This year our range and facilities have been checked by the police and with only a few Mr-meaners to be dealt with to comply, which are now under way, so our range will make the grade. Also with the police our license numbers and shoots for the year have been tightened up, it's good to see our club being used every week. Please be aware of the regulations when bringing non shooters onto the range as this is essential for our club safety.
Our members have been shooting well at competitions, and it is good to see New Zealand team members shooting at Christchurch instead of going North. We had the pleasure of coaching from John Harper at our range several times this year. Thank you John.
The other major benefit to the club is our International Air Pistol shoot held on the Internet, for this I thank Potter Firearms in Brisbane for the access to the web page, thanks Warren. Thanks also to Ann for keeping the international membership growing, our badges can be seen on most final lines in any major competitions, thank you Potters.
So once again enjoy your sport, keep it in the black, every shot's a ten.
President
James Hazlett.
