Over the month I kept a close eye out for vote loading, and I'm afraid to say I had to make some adjustments to the final figures as a result.
It was unfortunate that I was unable to create my own CGI program and include more pistols in the main menu. Some shooters were quite affronted that I had not included either the High Standard or S&W 41. Both of these pistols may have polled twice as many if they were there, but in all honesty they do not feature prominently at international events in Europe or Australasia any more. It was for this reason I left them out. I certainly have nothing against either, and consider them fine target pistols.
To put a little personal perspective to this subject I have included below a list of comparable scores I have shot with many of these models over the past fifteen years in UIT Standard Pistol. Not grounds for drawing any conclusions but I hope you will find them interesting.
"Ruger Mark II because the complexity with which it breaks down makes the
owner a shooter and a gunsmith!"
Now there's a guy who has an appreciation I'd have never considered.
As a dealer I get to shoot lots of pistols. Some of them I shoot many times over, others I may shoot only one or two matches. Some twelve years ago I was a Standard Pistol addict, shooting 500 rounds plus a week all year round. Unfortunately I never made a Master Grade score. The following is a record of my best scores with all the guns I used over a long period. All are club matches or better.
FAS 607 569
Britarms 2000 567
Walther GSP 566
Hammerli 208 564
Benelli MP90S 564
Domino 602 564
Pardini SP 562
Unique DES69U 557
Norinco Olympia 556
High Standard 555
Unique DES69 549
S&W 41 548
Ruger Mk 2 542
I know these results could be very different with an American shooter who is used to a more upright grip angle. I am trained to shoot UIT, so shoot better with an acute grip angle. I also shoot better with a rolling trigger release, otherwise the Hammerli 208 would have fared better.
While we can't draw any conclusions from any of the figures above, I hope you found it interesting. I would like to thank all who participated in this month's Quizlet and hope to see you all back for next month's installment.
